The WAE SmartLaborâ„¢ Initiative, developed through a partnership between the University of Rochester and NextCorps MEP, is rolling out across nine counties to help employers fill entry-level roles more efficiently using an AI-powered staffing platform.
The SmartLabor platform offers a streamlined alternative to traditional staffing agencies, giving manufacturers access to a large pool of pre-vetted workers. It leverages real-time data, including performance and attendance scores, to match employers with dependable candidates. Tools like automated shift assignments and smart rosters aim to improve fill rates and reduce turnover.
The program is part of a broader six-month research study led by U of R labor economists to explore how digital staffing can impact costs and workforce reliability. Selected companies can participate in the pilot at no cost, with up to $250,000 in staffing credits available and dedicated support from the WAE team.
Ideal candidates are manufacturers regularly hiring in volume and open to exploring a tech-enabled approach to staffing. Applications are being accepted now.
